I found this sign on a bus shelter near my office. gbsteve kindly took the picture. What could it mean? I find psychogeography is a useful inspiration for Fear Itself and Esoterrorists adventures.
Update: Since this picture was taken, the note, and a similar one on a nearby phone box have been torn away.

The first review of Mutant City Blues is up on rpg.net. It gets a 4/5.
For the first time in months I’m excited about running a new game. I can’t wait for the new season at my local games club so I can get stuck in. And I think this is because Mutant City Blues is one of the more original settings I’ve seen in a while. It adds a decidedly grown up spin to the superhero genre, getting away from Spandex and silly names of X-men and other similar comics, as well as their save-the-cheerleader-save-the-world plots. I can’t wait to get my hands on a hard-copy. There is also a review of Fear Itself over on Game Cryer. As a GM I enjoyed Fear Itself and the GUMSHOE system. It does a good job of supporting horror while giving players the control to shape scenes with their skill uses. Character generation is fast, and a GM could easily rip off nearly any horror movie for quick inspiration if needed. It is a rules light game that does a good job of focusing on the characters.

We've released The GUMSHOE Book of Unremitting Horror. As an experiment, I've made the PDF immediately available both with the print version and also as a stand-alone. It will be interesting to see how it fares compared to Fear Itself (which is also now available as a PDF). I've also introduced a complete GUMSHOE Bundle - this was our top selling product at GenCon. I haven't yet decided how long to keep it on sale.
Details of new stuff:
- GUMSHOE Unremitting Horror, a crossover book for Fear Itself and The Esoterrorists is now out. For the first time, it is released simultaneously as a PDF and print book
- Get our three GUMSHOE releases The Esoterrorists, Fear Itself and Unremitting Horror as a reduced-price bundle. You can get either the print or PDF version.
- Lenny Balsera has completed his Esoterrorists adventure called Profane Miracles
- Ian Sturrock has completed his new Esoterrorists campaign Little Girl Lost
- The Trail of Cthulhu first round playtesting has begun
- Fear Itself is now available as a PDF from the webstore.

I haven't been to GenCon in the States since the first Indie, and I'm really looking forward to it. You can find Pelgrane Press and ProFantasy Software on stand 1921, opposite the art show. We've planned lots of great events, and we are releasing three new products. We'll also have The Esoterrorists, Fear Itself, and the complete Dying Earth range, as well as a preview of Trail of Cthulhu. Robin D Laws will be at the stand for signings and chit chat. Grab the chance to get your signed limited edition of The Birds first thing when the hall opens. | Thursday | 10 AM | 11 AM | | Friday | 4 PM | 5 PM | | Saturday | 3 PM | 4 PM | | Sunday | 11 AM | Noon |
gbsteve will be running half-hour demos of Fear Itself and Esoterrorists on Friday and Saturday afternoons. I'm pleased to announce the release of our second GUMSHOE game, Fear Itself, written by Robin Laws. For more information and to purchase, see the Fear Itself website. It includes and adds to the GUMSHOE system.
This game in playtest, helped produce some of the most enjoyable pure roleplaying in which I've been involved. It really encourages inter-player roleplaying, involves all the players in each others stories and at many points I was able to set up a flashback scene and watch the players go to work. I felt more like a conductor than a GM. I can't think of a better recommendation than that.

The Fear Itself website is now up, with an overview of this latest GUMSHOE release, and a couple of downloads, including the character sheet.
You can get an idea of most games from the character sheet - from the crunch of 50 listed skills to emo stats such as Despair or the appearance of aliases and hat styles. This reverse engineering competition took this idea and generated 39 mini RPGs from an amazing set of character sheets.
So, what can we tell about Fear Itself from the character sheet? I'll leave you to judge.

I've just received the French version of Esoterrorists. Add an "e" and it goes all French on you. The GUMSHOE system becomes Détective/Gumshoe, and the blood corpse Cadavre Sanglants. The other noticeable differences are glossy paper, and A4 size. Valerie has kindly promised to do something for those Pelgrane Press mail order customers in France who ordered the English version. Expect an email if you come into this category.
For more information see the 7eme Cercle website here.
Fear Itself is ready to be printed, if I can get the damn thing uploaded, and should be out by the end of the month.

Jérome has now finished laying out the latest GUMSHOE release, Fear Itself, and will be printed shortly. Here is a selection of pages. It adds a bunch of new tools to GUMSHOE, including character traits such as Risk Factors, The Worst Thing You've Ever Done and new adventure structure options.

I'm happy to announce that 7eme Cercle, the makers and translators of many excellent roleplaying games, will be translating the entire GUMSHOE range into French, starting with Esoterrorists. They've set up a discussion forum here.
As a bonus, here is some of the forthcoming art from Fear Itself.

Fear Itself, our next GUMSHOE release, has an adventure specifically crafted by Robin Laws called The Ocean in the Forest, based around a LARP game. Adrian Bott, who is updating Unremitting Horror for GUMSHOE is adding a new adventure. That leaves an orphan adventure, The Final Case. It was originally in the d20 version of BOUH, but Adrian converted it, and the playtesters think it's a cracker.
The question is, what to do with it? I have three choices, release it on its own perhaps as a PDF, include it with Fear Itself as a second adventure, or add to Unremitting Horror as an extra adventure, on the basis that there is duplicate content in there already. At the moment, I'm tending towards the second option.
What do you think?
