The Recall of Cthulhu

I can't wear my discreet publisher hat for this announcement. Just a moment, voilà, my three-tiered fan-boy hat.

I'm very pleased to be able to announce that the excellent Kenneth Hite will be producing a new version of Chaosium's Call of Cthulhu using the new GUMSHOE system devised by Robin Laws for Esoterrorists and Unremitting Horror. If you believe that system matters, then this system and Mythos-based adventures are a made for each other. It's not the first time Ken and Cthulhu have been involved in forbidden congress - he worked on the d20 version, and is an experienced horror writer in the RPG field.

I've been trying to get get Ken to do stuff for Pelgrane for years. I feel like a fly fisher who has finally selected the correct combination of feathers, colours and hook for a successful lure, and after sitting by the old reservoir waiting for old man pike, I've reeled him in and I'm reaching for the club.

So what's the content? New rules, horror GM advice from Ken, some samples?

We don't have a firm plan yet - we are still tossing round ideas.

It will definitely have more, crunchy GUMSHOE rules, an appendix which gives the option of combining the investigative rules of GUMSHOE with the other rules of BRP, and it will probably be set in the 30s.

At the moment though, we are all ears.

The ears thing is probably some byproduct of interbreeding and unimportant beside the worship of our ancient masters.

And I'm not sure you should club Ken, really.

As yes, Club Ken, where you can dance the night away in an eldritch frenzy and tuck into deep-one pizza where the tentacles on the topping are suspiciously squamous.

This is very good news indeed!! I'm delighted to hear about the marriage and look forward to seeing it when it is completed.

So Chaosium's kosher with this? I mean, with Ken Hite and Robin Laws I'll throw my money at you regardless.

Yes, it is under license. I've enjoyed various versions of CoC for many years, and much prefer to do it this way.

The Recall of Cthulhu

WOW!! This is outstanding news and I'll be looking for it. Pick me to play test, as I was unable to help with Unremitting Horror!

Hite! Ia! Hite!

Re: The Recall of Cthulhu

I'll put out a big call here when the stars are right.
